Codex System
The Codex Onboard can record uncompressed or wavelet cinema quality HD material – plus audio and metadata – onto a single, removable data pack. When shooting is done, it offloads material much faster than real-time – typically three to five times faster.
The Onboard delivers immediate full-frame playback and review as video. It also delivers reference and viewing files over a network for full on-set quality control. Used with a Codex Media Station, it can deliver shots in multiple industry-standard formats – these can be generated on-the-fly for editing systems to use without importing.
The Onboard records using uncompressed or visually lossless wavelet compression, with compression ratios from 3:1 to 8:1. It also significantly reduces the storage requirements of a production. Graphics cards are available upon request. Please contact

Alexa, Alexa Plus and Alexa Studio
The Arri ALEXA has a 3.5K CMOS Imager which provides optimum oversampling for either a 2K or 1920 X 1080 HD image. Simultaneously records to Apple QuickTime/ProRes files, output uncompressed HD video or uncompressed ARRIRAW data to external recorders.
As the best recording media for the QuickTime/ProRes files, ARRI has chosen SxS cards because of their high data throughput. Two SxS cards fit into a module on the camera's left side for convenient on-board recording and are hot-swappable.
At the pinnacle of the range is the ALEXA Studio, featuring a quiet, adjustable mirror shutter and an optical viewfinder that provides a real-time, high contrast image with true colors. The Studio is a direct response to cinematographers’ requests for a camera that perfectly combines cutting edge digital image-making with traditional elements of the film cameras they have known and trusted for generations.
Another key feature of the ALEXA Studio is its 4:3 sensor, which makes it the only digital camera (aside from the ARRIFLEX D-21) to boast true anamorphic capability. Anamorphic lenses create a unique, cinematic look that has been appreciated by directors and cinematographers for over half a century, and cannot be created in post.
The ALEXA Plus is an upgrade to the ALEXA camera, adding built-in wireless remote control, the ARRI Lens Data System (LDS), an additional MON OUT video output, an additional RS power output and built-in position and motion sensors. Manufactured in Germany by Vantage Film these new lenses are guaranteed to redefine what it means to “shoot anamorphic” as they provide superior optics combined with an incredible lightweight feel. Every lens in the set has seen a weight reduction of 20% from their V-series brethren. Now, previously strenuous anamorphic applications such as Steadicam and Jib work are destined to be made as easy as they are with spherical primes. With their new design the Hawk V-Lites maintain a constant exposure and suffer no light-loss from close focus to infinity. Retuned focus gearing create a relative ease when pulling focus. The V-Lite set is optically matched to all other Hawk Anamorphic so there is no worry about differing image quality when bouncing between sets. The V-Lite set itself contains the following focal lengths: 28mm, 35mm, 45mm, 55mm, 80mm, and 110mm. All focal lengths open to a T2.2 (except for the 110mm which open to a T3.) Red Epic
The compact, 5K capable, and revolutionary Red Epic has arrived at Hand Held Films. While the camera is still in its early firmware, its initial features and capabilities are still impressive and promise exciting possibilities for the future.

The Cineped
The Cineped is composed of a base mounted on 4 precision wheels, 4 removable and adjustable legs, a telescopic post that can extend from 14”-22.5” and is topped by a large 3.5’ sliding plate which rotates 360°.
The combination of moves the operator can achieve is virtually endless as the sliding plate has a rotational capacity of 360° and 3.5 feet of sliding surface. When the 4 wheels are unlocked they permit a dolly line move on smooth surfaces.
