 is used to create shadow patterns on backgrounds or subjects. A flatly lit wall can be broken up into textured pools of light and shadow to either simulate realism or craft a stylized environment. Lighting directors frequently use them to imitate sunlight filtering through trees.

There are several different types of cookies, each providing different effects, and the resulting pattern itself depends on the distance of the cookie to both the light source and the background.

Cucoloris

 is a new, patented, portable lighting modification system that allows the location photographer/videographer the ability to quickly and easily duplicate studio lighting effects on location using their portable lights. ROADRAGS consists of two folding 18″x 24″ frames, single scrim, double scrim, artificial silk, and flag with a convenient carrying bag.

The elastic corded frames easily fold for storing and transporting. A simple flick of the wrist is all that’s required to quickly open the frame, making it ready for use. By using different materials the photographer/cinematographer/videographer is able to quickly create contrasts, different light ratios, diffusion or block the light. ROADRAGS kits will fit into most portable light kits.

Matthews Road Rags Kits

 flags and overheads use black fabric to block light completely, wherever needed. This is useful for creating contrast with negative fill or for removing unwanted light from certain areas of the frame. Most solids are made from panels of Commando Cloth, a black, 100% opaque fabric, but there are several alternatives for higher temperature lights or rougher outdoor conditions.

Solid Flags come in the following sizes: 

Solids 

 are rectangular structures on which materials are mounted so to control large areas of light by diffusing, bouncing, blocking, or dimming it. The frames are constructed by connecting lengths of 1″ square stock pipe with corner pieces and couplers and then attached to stands or other support equipment with ear pieces.

Butterfly Frame Kit (1" Square Stock)

 is a versatile frame that can be used with interchangeable slippers of various materials to create different light shaping tools, the size of which can be adjusted by rolling or unrolling the length of the hanging fabric. Convenient for quickly setting up bounces, diffusion, or negative fill and in situations where butterfly frame setups or wider flags can’t be easily maneuvered.

Specially-made slippers are available in a variety of different materials to offer interchangeable light shaping tools that can be switched out, depending on the need of the particular setup, and hung from the same Wag Flag. 

All slippers are 6′ long and come in size options of 6′ or 8′ depending on the length of the Wag Flag.

 Slippers attach to the Wag Flag with a sewn pocket that velcros in place for security.
